Lazy Sundays at Lake Pleasant Living
After a lazy Sunday morning breakfast we packed the car and took a slow drive out on the N2 towards Plettenberg Bay enjoying the scenery, pretty much everything is closed on Sundays and it was not long before we turned back and passed through Knysna on the way to Sedgefield. We were going to overnight at Lake Pleasant Living this evening and we decided on doing as little as possible today. Lake Pleasant Living is one of the resorts is situated on the edge of the freshwater lake, Groenvlei, amidst the indigenous vegetation of the Goukamma Nature and Marine Reserve and offers facilities of exceptional standard. Spacious, well-appointed one and two bedroom suites overlook the lake and landscaped garden and are surrounded by natural splendor.
The one or two bedroom villas offer open-plan living areas and en-suite bedrooms lead to private patios and balconies. Classic, up-market furnishings and finishes with original artwork define Lake Pleasant Living’s exclusivity. The suites and villas are serviced daily. Expect comfort and luxury in a relaxed environment. Lake Pleasant Living offers prolific birdlife, exceptional bass fishing, mountain biking, boating and beautiful unspoilt beaches nearby, as well as many world-class golf courses and a wide variety of attractions to enjoy. The Tranquility Spa overlooking the lake offers guests’ sauna and steam rooms, an indoor heated relaxation pool and gymnasium. While we did know where the property was we still managed to find the road signage and the turn off easily enough.
On parking the car at reception we were met by a friendly porter at the car (excellent) and received immediate assistance with the luggage (great). Booking in at reception, we were met by a very professional Gavin who had everything ready. The two-bedroom suite was superb with well thought out layout and all amenities, the daily weather report at reception is the most impressive we have seen to date.
We found the bistro, bar and the room service all very good, the staff we met where all both friendly and genuine, an asset to Lake Pleasant, we even received assistance with directions to a remote waterfall. The meals were all very good, particularly the dinner – we tried the Lamb Shank that was recommended by the F&B Manager. Attempts to provide criticism are not easy, during the three weeks on the road we visited several properties covering a broad range of what Route 62 and the Garden Route have to offer. Lake Pleasant stands out as a very pleasurable experience and genuine value for money, we will not hesitate to recommend this property to any of our clients.
